Biography
Subir Kumar Mandal is having working experience in Marine Environmental Pollution and Marine Harmful Algal Bloom. He spent much of his research carrier to develop his skills in identifying marine microalgae (phytoplankton) and diversity study throughout the Saurashtra-Gujarat coast of the Arabian sea. During his doctoral work, he carried out environmental impact studies on Marine Phytoplankton due to ship scrapping activities at Alang. He was awarded “Monbukagakusho Fellowship†by Japanese Government and worked at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Marine Science and Technology, Tokyo. There, he worked on bioremediation of As3+ and As5+ using marine cyanobacteria. During his post-doctoral, he worked on measuring anoxigenic photosynthesis using bench top FRRF (Fast Rate Repetitive Fluorescence). After joining CSMCRI as Junior Scientist, he started to study identifying Harmful Algal Bloom forming organisms using satellite data. He has already completed one collaborative project with Space Application Centre (ISRO) at Ahmedabad. Currently, he is handling two other projects. Out of which, one is carrying out with SAC (ISRO) collaboratively and the other one is CSIR Network project.
